Most meetings begin with mutual friends and ours is no different. I was in the marching band and she was on the pom team, so our circles overlapped constantly. We talked to each other every now and then, but it was always with friends. All it took was one phone call--that lasted the entire night and resumed the very next morning--and the connection was instant. Everyone saw it immediately and always remarked how easily we complimented each other. And truth be told, it always was natural and easy to connect and communicate with each other. Graduating and going off to college didn't change a thing, even while being long distance (50 miles is a lot to a 19-year-old). A few apartments and a state move later, and I truly believe we have become each other's better half.
