In the summer of 2012, Monica and Darin's paths crossed as he was unloading a box truck filled with clothing, furniture and appliances at the apartment complex where Monica worked. She offered her assistance unpacking the truck despite resistance from Darin, who poked fun at her manager for finally getting some “good looking help”. The two talked back and forth before setting up a first date which Monica had the joy of planning. Monica drove Darin to the nearest parking lot where she had him close his eyes and put his hands out... She placed a long-board (custom made by her brother Joseph) in his hands, completely unaware she was dealing with a professional switch-foot ollie skateboarder. Once Darin felt the grip tape, he fell in love and the two enjoyed their first of many long-boarding nights together.

Darin and Monica loaded the truck down with two mountain bikes and one sweet Shiba then hit the road headed for Aspen, Colorado to attend a friends wedding. Their first full day in Colorado consisted of a trip to the famous Maroon Bells which Darin had researched and picked as a "must do". While standing in front of Maroon Lake, Darin wrapped Monica up in a big hug and told her that while he loved being her boyfriend, he wanted to be her husband. Monica was in tears before he could finish his sentence as he dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. The surprises didn't end there as Darin pointed to a nearby birdwatcher and asked if Monica recognized who the man was. As the 'birdwatcher' walked closer, he began taking off his fake mustache, hat and wig followed by a Texas sized "HOWDY!". Turns out Barry the Birdwatcher was none other than her little brother, Thomas, who had captured the entire moment on camera... :) We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you and are extremely thankful for all of our friends and family for always showering us with love!
