From the U.S., you can fly into Glasgow or Edinburgh. From either city, there are 2 options for getting to Inverness: #1 By car rental: From Edinburgh: From the Airport, you’ll make your way north to the Queensferry Crossing Bridge, notable for it's unique cable-stay design and its status as the longest three-tower, cable-stayed bridge in the world. Once on the A9, you’ll pass by the town of Pitlochry, a great stop for lunch or to stretch your legs along the village’s main street. Back on the A9, be sure to stop in the House of Bruar for everything from Scottish country style clothing to a specialty food market offering an incredible selection of cheeses, meats, wine, craft beer, locally distilled spirits and more. Continuing on the A9, you’ll soon pass the entrance to the Scottish Highlands! This is a great place for a photo! A detour off the A9 will bring you to the Dalwhinnie Distillery for a wee tour. Once in Stirling, be sure to stop at Stirling Castle, one of Scotland's largest and most historically significant castles. Uber/taxi to and from train station. Inverness is Uber/taxi friendly as well.

It does take a bit to get used to, but worth it once you get the hang of it. Just remember, If you plan to drive, they drive on the left side of the road.
