Our dads signed us up for a group of other engineering students at ULL and we met quickly, but didn't really become close friends until Darcy would come and knock on Nick's door to hang out. We would walk around late at night all around Lafayette and explore rooftops and abandoned buildings. We became very close over many lunches, often Darcy buying Chick Fil A for both of us and in classes, joking during every lecture and studying together. In January of 2018, Nick told Darcy he liked her. We spent Mardi Gras holding hands and soon were officially together, on February 21, 2018!

We picked Darcy's beautiful ring together from an artist we both loved, and when I ordered it, it says it arrived in the wrong location! I hid the ring in my computer case for months until we went to Rocky Mountain National Park. We hiked dozens of miles in just 4 days, but at sunrise on the Bear Lake Trail, I knew it was the perfect moment. We began the hike, and I'm sure she suspected it, but I pulled her off the trail and with the sunrise coming over mountains to our East with us above Nymph Lake I got on one knee. She thought I was tying my shoe and tried to pick me up, but instead I asked Darcy if she would be mine forever. She said Yes!
