It will be hot but LA heat is much drier than say, New York City or Auckland. August usually has highs in the mid-80s °F (~28–30 °C) and lows in the mid-60s °F (~18 °C) at night. Coastal areas (Santa Monica, Venice) are typically comfortable with ocean breezes, but inland parts of LA (Downtown, Hollywood, the Valley) can feel hotter — sometimes upper 80s or low 90s °F (~30–33 °C).
