*Cheesy excerpts are compliments of the hopeless romantic in the relationship..if you're stumped, read on!* Fall 2023 • Darby hosted a bonfire, but forgot to turn off the sprinklers. In the rush of everyone seeking refuge inside, Travis noticed Darby's smile and generosity as she welcomed people into her home. When leaving, Darby remembers Travis giving her a big hug and very intentionally stating "I would like to get to know you better." Winter 23-24, February 14 • While it took a while for the two of them to notice the draw to one another, after Ash Wednesday Mass, Travis approached Darby to ask her on their first date. She graciously said yes to a coffee. However, they went on a ski trip with other Catholic young adults before their date. After skiing a few runs with mutual friends and Travis, Darby was made more excited about the idea of coffee with Travis, who had proven himself on the slopes. Spring 2024 • It wasn't exactly smooth sailing from the coffee date. God had other plans, which entailed a few more dates and then a period of friendship for Travis and Darby. During this time, Travis' prayers accompanied Darby in her triathlon, allowing her to offer up the event for her father and keeping a smile on her face throughout. Summer 2024 • Travis and Darby grew in friendship during evening bike rides with their dear friend Father Kyle Tannehill. Finally, after a summer that seemed to Travis to have spanned much more than a few months, Travis and Darby traveled as "friends" to a family gathering at Travis' home where Darby witnessed him be attentive to his relatives from 2 years old to 102 years old. When they arrived back in Bozeman, they didn't want to say goodbye and over dinner (and dessert, of course!), decided to enter into their relationship. Fall 2024 • Darby was smitten very early on, telling her girlfriends confidently that she was going to marry Travis. Winter 24-25 • Their relationship and its orientation towards the Lord continued to grow. After a trip back to Darby's family home in Evergreen, Colorado, and meeting her family, Travis knew he was going to marry this incredible woman. (Now do you know who the sappy one is?) So Travis employed the help of some of Darby's girlfriends and sent her to the ring shop where, unbeknownst to her, she was to try on the ring that he had picked! April 12, 2025 • Travis pivoted through a rainy day and unplanned obstacles to make the proposal an unforgettable story. Finally finding the spot after dinner, Travis asked Darby if she would marry him. That brings us to today! Travis and Darby are excited to celebrate with all of you what God has brought together. Please know that you are in our prayers. Please pray that we are able to discern the good and perfect will of our Father during our engagement and that preparation for marriage will bring us closer to the One that our union was created to glorify!
