We’re Married!

The pandemic allowed us to reflect on our priorities and evaluate the structure of our wedding plans. We agreed an intimate courthouse ceremony centered around family was the safest and best option. Thus, we tied the knot at city hall on 2.22.22. We joyfully wed with vows we wrote ourselves. This is surely an anniversary date we will never forget! Exactly 87 months, to the day, from when we first met. This date is also significant in numerology because 22 represents a desire to achieve goals, no matter the amount of dedication required, and 10 (2+2+2+2+2) is considered lucky and promises supportive energy toward everything new. We incorporated many favorite local elements including a Melrose bakery and florist and a few Boston resturants. Although we decided to celebrate our love with an intimate ceremony, please know on this special day you all were in our thoughts and hearts.

In the spring of 2021, we proudly purchased our first home. Luis has become a master of home DIY projects including replacing light fixtures and switches, installing new appliances, and wiring the ultimate smart home. We love the walkability of our new location and frequents stores on Main Street, just a few minutes away.

In February 2020, we took the trip of a lifetime. We traveled to Kandooma, an atoll of the Maldives. On February 15th, we went on a jet ski excursion. Our guide helped us find two different pods of dolphins and we even saw one do a flip! Later, a professional photographer came to shoot sunset photos of us on the beach. The photo shoot ended on top of a tower, where Luis got on one knee and asked Darby to marry him. A crowd of people cheered from below! Candles covered the ground and flowers displayed in the shape of a heart decorated the table. We basked in our new engagement over a lovely dinner.

We met in 2014, our freshman year, at Boston College. We shared countless memories including taking a class together, dancing salsa and bachata with Luis’ dance team (VIP), and adventuring throughout Boston.
