While we were both students at Texas State University, we met through a mutual friend. I started finding random reasons to chat on Snapchat just to have a reason to talk to him. One day, his AC broke at his apartment, and asked if he could crash at my place. He brought over In and Out burgers (yes, even the animal-style fries) and chatted with me as I finished my astronomy homework. I was smitten. As we watched Friends reruns, had too many McChickens, and caught every movie at the theater, I knew what we had was special. The rest is history.
In December 2023, Araceli and I planned to visit our alma mater. We hadn't visited since we left school over four years prior. She flew down to San Antonio to spend time with me and my family, and we drove up to Texas State. After strolling down memory lane for about an hour, I popped the question. Afterwards, we grabbed lunch at our favorite spot in the world and our old college date spot, Chuy's, where we spent the next couple days celebrating Christmas and being finally engaged after six years of being together.
