Dapo and I met at work, where we were both focused on our respective roles. One day, I had to visit a department to resolve an issue, which happened to be Dapo's department. Although the problem was quickly resolved, I didn’t see him that day. The very next day, Dapo approached me and said, “Everything is good today.” I was confused at first because I didn’t know him or what he was referring to. Seeing the puzzled look on my face, he clarified, referencing the issue from the previous day. I smiled and thanked him. That’s when we introduced ourselves. “I’m Naomi,” I said, and he replied, “I’m O.” Later, I told one of my colleagues how nice he was, and they mentioned that he was Nigerian. I was surprised because, with his long locs and accent, he didn’t fit the typical image I had in mind. A few days later, we bumped into each other again and exchanged greetings. During that conversation, I discovered his full name was Oladapo. I laughed and told him, “I didn’t know we were from the same country!” After that, we followed each other on Instagram and became casual friends. At the time, there was nothing romantic between us since we were both talking to other people. Despite this, we grew closer, and I often confided in him about my own “situationship.” He always offered great advice, though, to be honest, I rarely followed it! One time, he invited me to a game night he had organized with friends, but I couldn’t attend because of work. A few months later, I finally gave him my phone number, and we planned a hangout just the two of us to make up for the missed event. We went bowling, and it turned out to be one of the best evenings ever. We spent hours talking, catching up on life, and discovered that neither of us had a significant other anymore. We played a few rounds, shared laughs, and enjoyed a meal together before calling it a night. That outing was the start of something special. From that point on, we communicated regularly. Dapo loves to text, while I prefer calling, but we found our balance. Over time, we realized our feelings for each other had grown deeper. When he finally visited my home, Dapo formally introduced himself to my family. I live with my older sister and her husband, who I consider my big brother. My brother-in-law asked Dapo a few questions, and he confidently stated that he wasn’t just looking for a casual relationship—he wanted something meaningful, a relationship that would lead to marriage. And now, here we are, preparing to say “I do” to forever. #DNLOVEFOREVER25
