In what was a destined moment looking back, we met in the lobby of our workplace, Kestra Financial. In every day conversation we found in each other a friend, companion, challenger, and advocate. Over time, our love grew and the big life decisions seemed easy. Miles grew up in East Texas, with a love of arts and culture that carried into his adult life. Daphne grew up in Southern Maryland, in a close family who instilled a strong sense of self. We were both in a phase of reflection and growth when we met. Daphne had left hospitality for a "regular job", and Miles was redefining his family after divorce. We were both discovering the heart of who we are as people. Miles would stop at the front desk each day with new thoughts, ideas, or adventures he couldn't help but share with Daphne. Daphne thought he was a nerd, but a cute one. After some time, we decided to meet to create our bucket lists. Miles insisted on taking Daphne to a fancy dinner at a local winery; our first date. Our love grew over the next year; many museums, restaurants, and bottles of wine later. When Daphne's landlord sold their house, Miles did not hesitate to ask Daphne to move in. Caden and Myla were excited to see their Dad so happy. They said, "Daphne's really stepped up the hominess of this place". We dream big, and discuss regularly land, a home, and legacy to pass on to Caden and Myla. After a year, while discussing marriage, Daphne said there were a few traditions she felt were unnecessary. Miles agreed and the engagement began. Once COVID-19 was an everyday topic, we decided that love doesn't wait. Carpe Diem!
