You must be wondering, "Why are Daniel and Mel planning their wedding on a Monday!?" We've gotten this question many times and also asked ourselves if this is truly what we want. The answer is YES! We started dating on March 20, 2021. Daniel proposed on September 20, 2022. It was only fitting that we keep the 20th tradition alive! We figured that March 20 would be an easy and special date to remember. To solidify our decision, and because we love fun little details, March 20, 2023 is a palindrome. For those of you who don't know, a palindrome means that the date is the same forward as it is backwards. 3-20-23 This date was meant for us. We absolutely understand if you are not able to make it. After all, "it's a Monday."

Daniel and I have so many stories that are way too similar to not share. It's crazy how we have done things in our lives that related to the other person in some way. This story is no different. "Danyo" was created back when Myspace was a thing. (When my family and friends met Daniel for the first time, they thought that was really how he spelt his name LOL!) Me on the other hand. "Mayo" was born when Resa and I went on a trip. Somehow a guy at Chic-Fil-A thought "Theresa" was spelt like "Terrika". Terrika and I hung out so much that we started calling ourselves Terrika and Mayo and it stuck...like mayo. When Resa and Brit met "Danyo", it just fit perfectly that they joked around with us and called us "Danyo and Mayo".

Yes we have that cliche story of meeting over a dating app! It's crazy, Daniel and I were both over the dating scene and especially dating apps! We were both ready for "the one" but not taking people on the apps very seriously. February 21, 2021 Daniel liked my picture but didn't say a word. *rude* So, being the extrovert that I am, I messaged him saying, "Oh Kay look at you Hawaii's finest model haha". Who in their right mind would say something like that! LOL IDK what I was thinking being that bold like that but I'm glad I did. March 12, 2021 The day we finally met in person. Daniel drove all the way from Pahoa to pick me up to hang out and take me to my cousin's house in Keaau. When he was on his way, I forgot to mention that sometimes the service doesn't really work well out here. He got into town and had no service to call me. When he finally did call me, I didn't answer. He started freaking out like I was ghosting him or something creepy would happen. I called him back and felt so bad because I had just been drying my hair which is why I missed the call. Haha. We drove to Hilo that night and the rest is history.
