Should I Uber or rent a car while in Santo Domingo?

Answer

Getting around in SD is totally doable. Just like any city, it can get a bit wild. If you decide to do it, adopt a defensive mindset and watch out for other drivers. Be specially wary of the lack of stop signs in some places. On the flip side, public transportation is a breeze with affordable Ubers, and subways at your service. If you're planning on driving to a Resort after the venue, feel free to Uber while in the city and get car the day you need to drive out to your destination.

Is it safe?

Santo Domingo is a fairly safe city. As a tourist anywhere, just make sure to keep your wits about you. Avoid strange talks with strange people, late night walks, don't flash your money or your devices and don't get too drunk!
