Despite growing up 10 minutes away from each other, it took 20 years for our paths to finally converge when we first met in Berkeley. We quickly related about music which continues to be a source of great meaning and positivity in our lives. Soon, Sammy was regularly baking cinnamon challah bread loaves and bringing it over to Danny’s place because she “needed help eating it”. While the challah was unforgettably delicious, it was the time spent hanging out together which forged our friendship and built the foundation of our love. We continued to create amazing memories around the city of Berkeley and experiences tied to nature, learning about each other and the wondrous universe we live in. While Sammy completed requirements to attend PA school, Danny was accepted to UCLA in 2014 for his PhD in astrophysics, and our relationship pivoted to long-distance. We got to explore sunny LA and enjoyed trips to Lake Tahoe, Arches, Zion, Telluride, Austin and Red Rocks Ampitheather. Sammy was accepted into Touro University and began PA school in 2016 and Danny made so many visits up to the Bay he became an honorary member of the Touro PA family. We traveled to Costa Rica and continued to balance grad school, many airport trips and our relationship. Danny completed his PhD in 2020 and shortly after that we returned to our favorite city and moved in together in Berkeley in the height of the pandemic. After 5 years of being apart we got to make up on lost time while quarantining and fell deeper in love. Little did Sammy know, a big surprise was brewing. A few days before Danny’s 30th Birthday, Sammy was supposed to go to a photoshoot for Leila’s new puppy which was actually our engagement which was planned with the support of a whole team. This incredible moment overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge and the entire Bay Area is one we will never forget. One year later, we are getting Married!
