Danny and I first met through mutual friends in high school. He sent me many messages on facebook (which I never responded to because I never checked facebook). So, he thought I was just blowing him off, and he decided to give up for the summer. When school started back up again in the fall of 2012, we found out we were in choir together. We eventually became dance partners and not long later he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. We were just a couple of kids back then, and I don't think either of us thought we would be getting married 10 years later!
The day started like any other day, for me anyway. Meanwhile, Danny is stressing out, sweating through his shirt, and his heart is racing through the roof. I was oblivious to it all. Danny had this whole elaborate plan worked out that went absolutely perfectly, and I never suspected a thing. A week earlier my friend, Riley, texted me and asked if Danny and I wanted to go out to brunch with her and her boyfriend in Lincoln Park, Chicago. So I said yes, of course! We decided to go a little earlier and walk around Lincoln Park for a bit before going to eat. We were walking by this honeycomb looking structure when a lady with a camera came up to us and asked if we could pose for some pictures that she was taking for her photography class. So I said sure and that we were waiting for some friends anyway! We took a couple photos and then she said she wanted Danny to stand behind me and come up and grab me from behind to get a reaction shot. I stood there for a couple seconds and Danny wasn't coming up to grab me, and I was wondering what was going on. It wasn't until I turned around that I figured out what was happening. It was pure shock when I saw him down on one knee and holding a ring.
After saying "yes" to marrying the man of my dreams, I assumed the surprises were over. We went out to brunch together and he told me all the background information. He also said that the photographer would meet back up with us after brunch at his apartment, up on the rooftop, to take some more photos. I had no reason not to believe him. He said he had the whole day planned out. So, I just went with the flow. I was still in shock to think too much about it. When we went back to his apartment and up to the rooftop, I was so surprised to see my family, his family, and our close friends up there to celebrate our engagement. It was the best day ever, and I wouldn't have changed a thing. He really outdid himself, just like I knew he would!
