A Raft for TwoA Raft for Two

Danny and Katharine met in the summer of 2020. He was just starting his career as a therapist and she was raising her two daughters with a mix of strength and heart. They were introduced by a friend and their bond grew naturally through music and long stretches of quiet. They started writing poetry together in journals and over text. It was a way of weaving their thoughts into something meaningful and they started calling that shared space a temple of poetry. One of their first poems was called A Raft for Two. It was a simple idea about building a sturdy boat that could handle any weather while they floated forward together. Danny has a way of seeing the world that is hopeful and deeply happy. That perspective changed things for Katharine. His belief that life could be joyful and full of light helped her see new possibilities for herself too. He showed her that being gentle is its own kind of power. It wasn't long before Danny became a fixture in their daily lives. He stepped into the family rhythm perfectly whether he was singing songs to make Aislinn and Sophie laugh or sharing homemade Indian meals around the table. He didn't just visit their world he moved into it heart first. He became a father to the girls in every way that counts by simply being there for them every single day. In November of 2024 Danny asked Katharine to marry him and she said yes right away. This is their raft for two. It is a steady love that carries them and the daughters they are raising together. Here is an excerpt: “Moments on moments, flowing And this raft that I’ve built is only made for two Rowing to an unknown destination, but I’m hoping It’s a place where my dreams have come true And truthfully speaking, I feel accepted by you As if you filter my thoughts and emotions Like a glimmer of sunlight on the water’s surface, Instilling a warm current 🌅…” — KM
