Danny and I met as middle schoolers at his cousins house, little baby faced Danny asked if he could take a picture with me, such a brave introduction for a 13 year old in pre-social media times. A year or so later, Danny gained the courage to ask me to homecoming, I said yes. Homecoming quickly approached, dance permission slips were signed, tickets purchased, and Danny was a new driver, excited to show off and pick me up like a real date! But on the night of, I regretfully ghosted him (I know, I was such a jerk!). Luckily, his friend pulled off being "Justin" for the evening and he went on to be Danny's homecoming wingman. Nearly 10 years later at a midtown night club, Mr. Chuong met me with a tap on the shoulder, a familiar smile and the classic "do you remember me?" line, the rest is history.
One August weekend, Danny brought up the idea of an overnight trip to clear our minds from the stress of the pandemic, he made the initiative of planning a "moderate" hike he seen on Instagram, Mount Tallac. I let Danny figure out the details of our adventure, and regretfully, I never bothered checking the reviews on this unfamiliar trail. Had I checked, I would've discovered that we were encountering an extremely difficult trek that would take us nearly 10 hours to complete. The trail had incredible views, but it was painfully long, terrifyingly steep, and the last few hundred feet required one to almost scale the side of the mountain. When we finally reached the summit, Danny asked someone to take a photo (video playing of course), he dropped down on one knee while I shook from the combination of shock and fear of heights. Danny had no idea what he got us into when we started that hike, but from getting lost, to the pain and euphoria at the top, it made for a story we will never forget! Just like that insanely difficult hiking experience together, we will always be each others push when we need it, we can overcome any difficult obstacle, so long as we have each other by our side. So with the sun above us, the sand below us, the sea behind us, and our future before us, we look forward to celebrating our marriage with you, March 18th, 2022!
