Danny's family was having a celebration of life for Steve, Danny's dad. I was in town visiting a mutual friend who had planned on attending Steve's celebration to support Danny; at first I was hesitate but ended up going last minute. Danny immediately caught my eye when I walked into the party, however, I did not know he was the reason we were attending. Shortly after noticing him, Danny and I were introduced and the conversation ended at that. The night came to an end and I left the party. Later that night Danny reached out to our mutual friend and asked her for my phone number. The next morning we caught up over blueberry pancakes and a bad cup of coffee at a local diner we both had gone to many times growing up. After breakfast we walked around a near by lake and the rest is history.
So it was Christmas Eve morning and I had flown into Medford from Portland late the night before. I was a little behind schedule because I had slept through my alarm due to lack of sleep. I rushed down to Palo Cedro and thankfully Cyndi, Jenna’s mom, was home alone cleaning. Luckily Buck told her that I asked for his permission on Thanksgiving so she knew I going to ask sometime soon. I let her in on the scoop that I had these letters I needed to wrap with lights and it needed to be done before Jenna got home. We quickly set up the lights and realized we needed to buy even more time. So we told Buck to stall her. He called his brother Michael and they had drinks at a local bar - family and drinks, Jenna couldn’t turn that down. So we set up all the lights and got it laid out perfectly in the barn, along with red roses scattered on the ground. Jenna was going to be home any minute. I got the playlist of "our songs" ready. Cyndi’s job was to get Jenna in the barn. When Jenna got home she asked where I was and she told her I was in the barn checking on my stuff that I had stored in the store room. Twenty minutes goes by and still no Jenna. She was minding her own business and apparently didn’t think I needed help “checking on my stuff”. Finally Cyndi said “Jenna, go check on Danny he is driving me crazy being out there that long” Now Jenna is irritated with me because she thinks I have upset her mom. So Jenna walks into the barn to find me down on one knee with the ring out and the “Marry Me” sign lit up, however, as she is walking through the barn door she is saying“ What the heck are you doing?”. I thought the sign said it all but I told her how much I loved her and asked her to marry me. With the biggest smile on her face Jenna said “yes”. I popped the bottle of Champagne I had bought that morning and we had a drink with Buck, Cyndi and Ellie. Now here we are today - happily ever after.
