We both got talked into joining a coed kickball team in Stuart! Danny with his best buds, Garrick and Cam and Emily as a last minute add on to reach the right guy to girl ratio for the team. Little did we know that that first game would lead us to where we are now and many championship wins! We hit it off right off of the bat, assigned to short stop (Emily) and third base (Danny) we became a great duo on the field. The more we talked at post game gatherings and after parties the more we realized how compatible we were and the more we wanted to spend time with each other. In the following weeks we paddle boarded, kayaked, went to to the beach and had our first date.
Our first date was a "Thank You" for watching Danny's brother, Robby's dog Chief for the weekend while he was away for work at a boat show. While he was away at the show he asked if he could take me out that upcoming Sunday. It took me more days than I'd like to admit to realize that this random Sunday was actually Valentines Day! I was running a little late to arrive at Danny's place (per usual) and went rushing up to the door once I got to the house, to my surprise I was greeted by Danny's friend Cam. Cam was decked out in his fanciest attire which included a huge "Ford" belt buckle and his best tie. He let me know that yes, I was late and that they had been expecting me... Confused I followed Cam out to the backyard of their house where Danny had set up an entire picnic table surrounded by tiki torches.. Danny greeted me and let me know that he had looked and called everywhere in town and there were no available reservations for the night. So he improvised, and made dinner (chicken parmesan), set up the backyard like our own little restaurant, and had his friends Garrick and Cam be our "servers" for the night. It was by far the sweetest and most thoughtful dates I'd ever had. I was hooked!
After a 1.5 mile walk from Bathtub Beach down to the inlet, we laid out our blanket and picnic out on the beach. As the sun was setting over the river, we walked down to the water and Danny proposed. The entire engagement was caught by Danny with a hidden camera in our picnic cooler. We popped champagne and celebrated together on the beach before calling all of our family and friends to share the big news!!!
