Where is the wedding ceremony taking place?

Our wedding ceremony will be held at Four Martyrs Church - a beautiful Orthodox church in Rethymno. The church is air-conditioned, ensuring your comfort during the ceremony.

Where is the reception taking place?

Answer

The reception will take place at Villa Arodamos in Pikris - a village right above Rethymno Bay. The reception will be completely outdoors in a beautiful, grassy area nestled amongst the mountains. There is limited indoor seating for those who need a break from the outdoor setting or to cool down. We want to ensure everyone's comfort and well-being throughout the evening.

How will guests be transported to and from the church and reception?

Answer

We understand that transportation details are important for our guests. We're currently working on the logistics, and we'll keep you informed as soon as we have a plan in place. Please regularly check the FAQs to stay updated on transportation to and from our wedding ceremony and reception.

Are children allowed?

Answer

We adore the idea of celebrating with your whole family, however, due to our budget constraints, we are trying to limit children to immediate family, members of the wedding party & nursing mothers. We kindly request that if possible, you consider arranging childcare for your little ones. If you are unable to secure childcare or if it would be too difficult for you to attend without your kids, please let us know in advance before we send out formal invitations. This way, we can ensure we have enough seating, meals and activities to keep the little ones entertained.

Absolutely! We will have a comfortable area for nursing mothers, should you need it.

What should we do if our child's attendance status changes at the last minute?

Answer

We understand that plans can change, especially when it comes to international travel and childcare. If your child's attendance status changes at the last minute, please don't hesitate to let us know as soon as possible so we can make necessary adjustments.

We are more than happy to accommodate dietary restrictions, including allergies, dietary choices, and other special needs. Our goal is to make sure all our guests can enjoy the meal together.

Answer

Given the hot temperatures in Crete during the summer, we recommend light and breathable clothing. However, since our wedding ceremony will be held in a church, custom requires guests to wear smart/cocktail attire. This means no flip-flops, casual shorts, t-shirts, sports hats, or overly casual attire.

Ladies can opt for lightweight dresses, skirts, or smart/cocktail summer outfits that are both elegant and comfortable. Please avoid overly casual attire.

What should gentlemen wear?

Answer

For the gentlemen, we recommend lightweight trousers and a collared shirt or a light suit. Ties are optional. Dress shoes or comfortable summer footwear are ideal. Please avoid overly casual attire and flip flops/sandals.

Answer

Yes, formal hats and sunglasses are certainly acceptable, especially given the sunny weather in Crete. However, during the church ceremony, custom requires that gentlemen remove their hats as a sign of respect.

We are not asking guests to adhere to any color or material restrictions. You are welcome to wear whatever color you feel most comfortable and beautiful in.

What is the typical summer weather in Crete?

Crete experiences a Mediterranean climate in the summer months, with high temperatures and plenty of sunshine. Average daytime temperatures in the summer usually range from the mid-30s°C (mid-90s°F), however temperatures can reach into the 40s°C (100s°F). While most days are warm and sunny, it's essential to be prepared for the possibility of very hot weather.

Since you’re traveling for our wedding, making the trip is a gift in itself and physical gifts are absolutely not necessary! How can I stay comfortable during my stay?

Answer

We recommend wearing sunscreen, drinking plenty of water and carrying bug repellent. Summer is the height of mosquito season and they are not shy.
