Does My Invitation Include A Plus One? Can I Bring My Kids?

Answer

Although we would love to celebrate our love with everyone, we are limiting our guest list and request only the names on the invitation to be in attendance.

Is parking provided at the Venue?

Answer

A public parking lot is located directly behind the The Lightner Museum at 25 Granada Street. A second lot is located across from the museum at Granada and Cedar Streets. All metered parking spaces are free after 5:00 p.m. during the week, on Sundays, and on holidays.

What Is the Nikkah Ceremony?

Answer

The Nikkah is the known as the Muslim marriage ceremony. In the Islamic tradition, the marriage contract is signed and it is during this event that the bride and groom say, “I do.”

What should I wear to the Nikkah Ceremony?

Answer

Our Nikkah ceremony will take place at the Islamic Center in Jacksonville, FL. Since the ceremony will be held at the Masjid (mosque), we encourage our guests to dress formally and modestly. Men and women should cover their legs and arms and women may be asked to wear a headscarf in the main hall.

What Is a Mehndi?

The Mehndi is one of the most festive, colorful and exciting pre-wedding events to take place during the wedding week. The event often starts with over-the-top entrances, one for each party in the marriage and continues for a night full of food, music, performances, and dancing.

What should I wear to the Mehndi?

Answer

Bright, bold, and fun colors! Both men and women should come dressed in traditional south asian attire if they can! If you're part of the bridal party then remember, this is the event to show which side you rep! Each group may have their friends/family wear a particular color so it is easy to see which side of the family you belong to.

What Is the Shaadi?

Answer

The Shaadi is the main wedding event hosted by the bride's family. This reception begins with the bride being escorted down the aisle by her father and ends with "The Rukhsati" which is the bittersweet conclusion of the entire wedding celebration. This is where the bride's father sends off his daughter with all guests gathering to say farewell to the newly married couple.

What should I wear to the Shaadi?

Answer

Formal, or Desi Formal Attire We kindly request that our honored guests wear colors within the pastel family, or any other light hues for our special day.

What kind of food will be at your events?

Answer

Indian food. But don't worry if you're not a huge fan there will be a wide variety of dishes with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options at each of our events. Our food will be served buffet style, so that guests can choose what they’d like to eat. Please let us know if you have any food restrictions or allergies.
