Danilo and Angela met after Angela came to Bogota for the first time in the summer of 2018 to volunteer as an English teacher. When she returned to school in Texas, she decided to open a new account on the dating app Tinder. After scrolling through several local profiles, she saw, much to her surprise, one lonely profile from Bogota. Danilo’s was the only profile from outside the area, and Angela’s was the only international profile listed for him. Given the app’s parameters, this was an odd occurrence. Little did they know that this glitch would spark a beautiful love story and change the rest of their lives forever. Danilo and Angela matched and began talking to each other through texts and video calls, often late into the night. After four months of getting to know each other, Angela finally got the chance to fly to Bogota and meet Danilo in person on December 27th of that year. They spent only five days together before Angela had to leave again for school. More visits followed every few months until Angela came to live in Colombia for 10 months while on a Fulbright English teaching grant. The two moved together to Monteria, and Danilo proposed to Angela on their first anniversary of meeting in person. They married in a civil ceremony on March 4th 2020. However, their relationship returned to long distance when the COVID-19 pandemic forced Angela to return to the U.S. They spent 7 months apart, only to be reunited again and start their lives together in Colombia as husband and wife. This day is a long-awaited celebration and sealing of their union under God with friends and family.
