If there's one thing we've learned from our story, it's that God's plans are often better than our own. In September 2025, neither of us had planned on attending a Christian camp called Choose Life. At the last minute, however, we both decided to go. Looking back now, we can clearly see God's hand at work. Out of all the places we could have been that weekend, He brought us to the same camp at the same time. Although Ivanka had already noticed Daniel the day before, we officially met when we were placed on the same team for the volleyball tournament. Daniel introduced himself, and what started as a simple conversation quickly became something we both wanted to continue. As the evening went on, we found ourselves spending more time together and looking for opportunities to get to know one another better. When camp came to an end the next day, neither of us was quite ready to say goodbye. A group from camp was planning a trip to Lancaster, and Ivanka was planning on going as well. Daniel, however, had a flight scheduled to leave that same day. Not wanting to miss the opportunity to spend more time with Ivanka, he made a last-minute decision to change his flight to the following day. That extra day became the beginning of our story. While in Lancaster, we stopped at a coffee shop where Daniel offered to buy Ivanka a coffee and worked up the courage to ask for her phone number. Afterward, we walked to a nearby park and spent hours talking, laughing, and sharing our stories. What was supposed to be a simple afternoon turned into an entire day together, and before we knew it, evening had arrived. Neither of us wanted the day to end. Soon after, we began dating—but there was one challenge. Daniel lived in Kansas, and Ivanka lived in Philadelphia. Nearly 1,200 miles separated us, but we were determined not to let distance stand in the way of what God had prepared for us. Over the following months, we spent hours every day on video calls, talking about everything from our dreams and goals to our favorite memories and future plans. We made countless trips back and forth to see one another, cherishing every moment we could spend together. While long distance wasn't always easy, it taught us how to communicate, trust, and love each other even when we could not be physically together. Through every airport goodbye and every reunion, our love continued to grow stronger. As time passed, we both knew that what we had found was something special. After many visits, countless conversations, and lots of time spent on airplanes, we decided it was time to take the next step and bring the distance to an end. In May of this year, Daniel traveled to New Jersey for a work meeting and planned to stay through the weekend to spend time with Ivanka. He told her they would be meeting their friends, Ian and Christina, for a double date at a ballet later that evening, but first they were going to stop by a "park." What Ivanka didn't know was that this wasn't just any park. On May 7th, Daniel led her into a beautiful garden and surprised her with a proposal. In the place where she least expected it, Daniel asked the most important question of his life, and Ivanka said yes. As we look back on our journey, we're amazed by how God orchestrated every detail—from two last-minute decisions to attend a camp, to a volleyball team assignment, to a changed flight, a coffee shop conversation, and a long-distance relationship that brought us closer together. What seemed like small moments at the time became the foundation of a love story neither of us could have written on our own. We are incredibly grateful for the family and friends who have supported us along the way, and we are excited to begin this next chapter together as husband and wife.
