Marin County is the birthplace of mountain biking - and it's one of our favorite ways to spend time, as you likely know! We recommend Trailforks for finding mountain bike trails and navigation - but we are happy to help you put together a route! For rentals, we recommend Sports Basement in San Francisco (if you have a car) or Tam Bikes in Mill Valley.
If you'd prefer to ride on the road, Marin is famous for that also! Our favorite (and the most approachable if you aren't ready to climb up Mt Tam yet) is the Paradise Loop, linked above.
If you'd prefer to get out on the trails by foot, there's incredible hiking of all flavors within a short drive from Mill Valley (with or without a car)! AllTrails is the best for locating hiking routes and filtering by length, difficulty, and type of hike.
Rent surfboards at Proof Lab Station in Mill Valley and go checkout Bolinas or Ocean Beach! Bolinas surf report: https://www.surfline.com/surf-report/bolinas/5842041f4e65fad6a77089c2
If you have an extra day, take a trip up to Napa or Sonoma to wine taste or eat amazing food! Healdsburg, Calistoga, and Napa/Yountville are all just around 1 hour away!
We are of course just a short drive from San Francisco - if you want or need recommendations for visiting the city, we would love to share some of our favorite spots! (If you want to do a museum day, for example, the De Young, SFMOMA, and Cal Academy of Sciences are all great!)
Taking a Ferry is a great way to see the Bay! A few route options include: - A general SF Bay Cruise from Pier 49: https://www.blueandgoldfleet.com/sf-bay-cruise/ - A ferry from Tiburon to Angel Island: https://angelislandferry.com/schedule - A ferry from Sausalito or Larkspur to San Francisco: https://angelislandferry.com/schedule
We love Pt. Reyes National Seashore - it's worth the beautiful 50 minute drive if you have time! A few favorites: - Getting Oysters at Tomales Bay Oyster Company, The Marshall Store, or Hog Island Oyster Co - Getting Cowgirl Creamery Cheese or Buffalo Milk Ice Cream in Pt. Reyes Station - Renting Kayaks from Tomales Bay Expeditions or Blue Waters Kayaking - Driving/hiking out to Chimney Rock or the Pt. Reyes Elk Reserve - Walking along Limantour Beach
