Before high school even started, Dani had friends constantly telling her she looked like a baseball player who was going to their school. Naturally, she had to figure out who they were talking about. The first time Dani saw Mikey, she immediately understood the hype — safe to say she had a crush right away. Once Mikey was finally single, Dani decided to shoot her shot and slid into his Snapchat DMs… and the rest is history. Funny enough, when Mikey asked Dani to be his girlfriend, he showed up with Chick-fil-A breakfast on a Wednesday late start. She said yes… then took it back during third period because she wasn’t sure she wanted to start dating someone right before heading off to college the next year. Clearly, that didn’t last long. Mikey and Dani officially started dating on April 28, 2017, and after one summer together, Dani quickly learned what baseball summer ball meant — Mikey was always going to be gone. Between college softball, baseball, and eventually Mikey beginning his journey with the Twins organization, long distance became a huge part of their relationship. It wasn’t always easy, but it made them stronger, more appreciative of their time together, and more certain that no matter where life took them, they would always choose each other. When Mikey proposed, Dani truly had no idea. While celebrating 8 years together in San Diego, Mikey somehow managed to completely surprise her — which is impressive considering he’s usually terrible at lying and Dani always said she would know when it was coming. Even with the rainy weather all weekend long, it ended up being the most beautiful and perfect proposal they could have imagined. Now, they cannot wait to celebrate the next chapter of their story with all of their favorite family and friends on July 23, 2027.
