Answer

YES, there are two travel requirements that need to be done prior. 1) Have a valid passport! Your U.S. passport must be valid for at least three months beyond your planned departure from the Schengen Area. 2) ETIAS! U.S. citizens can apply for ETIAS for Greece starting in 2026. ETIAS is mandatory to visit Greece or other Schengen nations without a visa. https://www.etiaseu.com/us-citizens/etias-greece You should apply as soon as you know you are going and it is 2026. ETIAS Greece is quick and easy to obtain online. Simply fill out the application form and pay the ETIAS fees. The approved authorization is linked to your U.S. passport electronically, ready to travel to Greece. https://www.etiaseu.com/application ETIAS is valid for 3 years, or until your passport expires, whichever is sooner. You can use the same ETIAS to travel to Greece and other parts of the Schengen Area multiple times for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Question

How do I get around the IslandHow do I get around the Island

Answer

There are only 3-4 taxis available on the island, so when picking a hotel, airbnb, etc be cognizant of proximity to the town and beaches (places you want to be). We do have a connection with a 24/7 taxi service whilst on the island, just message them via Whatsapp at +30 6977760570 *The Dionysos Seaside Resort has an additional fee option for transport from the ferry terminal when booking a room which we highly recommend. The Dionysos hotel is also located next to an ATV and Scooter rental which is highly recommended way to travel the island. However, an international drivers permit or EU license is required for renting these vehicles in Greece, if interested you can apply for one here: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html

Question

Answer

There are two options when it comes to reaching Ios from Athens. The first option is to embark on a ferry from one of the three ports of Athens - Piraeus, Rafina, or Lavrion. Travel time depends on the type of vessel (conventional or high-speed) and port of departure. The second way to get to the island is to fly to one of the Cycladic islands that have an airport (Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos, or Paros) and then take a ferry to Ios from there. Ferries are frequent from both Athens and the aforementioned islands during the high season.

Question

What outlet adapter do I need? What outlet adapter do I need?

Answer

Greece uses type C and F power outlets, which are the same as virtually everywhere else in Europe and Russia. In fact, the only exceptions are the U.K., Ireland, Cyprus, and Malta. For the traveler, this means you can use the same adapter you’ve been using elsewhere in Europe. The C and F type adapters are interchangeable with each other and are also compatible with type E. If the input in your adapter/plug is two round poles, then it’s going to work just fine in Greece.

Question

What power converter should I use? What power converter should I use?

Answer

We recommend this Universal Adapter that will reliably charge your personal electronics in Greece, in addition to over 100 countries around the world. It will serve you in global travel and ensure you don’t have to buy tons of different adapters. As a bonus, your devices will be protected by a built-in fuse in the unlikely event you encounter a power surge. And it comes with a lifetime replacement guarantee, so it’s the last universal adapter you’ll need to buy!
