In 2015 we entered each others orbits. Although we were friends on facebook, we didn't yet know each other in real life but our paths began to cross. What followed was years of seeing one another in crowded spaces. However, the universe had our backs and knew we still needed time to the do the individual work necessary to show up as our best selves. Early 2021 is when we officially connected via Instagram. What started as small talk and a "like" here or there snowballed into conversations of life, death and spirituality. We decided to meet in Oakland for a hike, Shanice was living in LA and Dee in the Bay Area. Neither one of us knew if this was a date yet but about halfway through our first face to face conversation (and through heavy breathing in masks) we both realized how much we had in common. Both creative individuals, with a similar family dynamic. A siblings love that felt paternal, a desire for a nature filled life, compassion for animals, and the knowledge that we were better people minus drinking. We shared little things in common as well, like our moms sharing the same favorite color or growing up with pet yorkies. We discussed our dreams, life goals and past life struggles. We left Joaquin Miller park and within that next hour we were already texting about seeing each other again and Shanice was now referring to Dee as her future wife (manifestation is real!) Those first few months felt like magic, a steady flow of adventures in the Bay, LA and our special place Palm Springs where we shared our first real kiss. Long distance strengthened our communication and trust in our first year and set the foundation for us. In 2022 Dee made the leap to move to Los Angeles which brought us even closer. Over the next 2 years we traveled to Puerto Rico, Mexico, Hawaii and countless weekend trips, somehow always organically being on the same page with every travel decision or mishap we faced. We have gone through really high highs and have been there to lean on one another during some of life's darkest seasons. Through every tribulation our souls became more and more entwined. When we discuss our love there is absolutely no denying we are each others soul mates, we spend much of our evenings showering one another in affirmations of gratitude and love. Our love has remained healthy and unwavering since the moment we shared those 3 little words at Joaquin Miller park 3 months after meeting there. We believe our differences are our strengths, balancing the other out and our similarities at times comical. Together our future looks filled with love, growth and support. We are looking forward to the day that we get to pass on those affirmations of love and gratitude to our children. To tell them of the magic we felt not only in those first few months but continue to experience every single day.
