As fate would have it, Diana, a friend of the bride and co-worker of the groom decided to play cupid. At Diana’s invitation, Danielle and Elyse, her maid of honor, trekked downtown on a work night to meet Ro at their company holiday party. He chatted with Danielle for 5 minutes before making a quick exit. Danielle assumed she would never hear from him again. The next day Ro sent her a text asking her to dinner. They met at The Mermaid Inn and then she knew. She knew the way you know about a good melon…
In September, Ro planned a weekend away to one of his favorite places, Franconia, New Hampshire. The first activity he planned was a hike on the Franconia Ridge Trail Loop. Danielle was mentally prepared for a nice hike on a quiet meandering trail with pretty New England views. Instead, she soon found herself crossing waterfalls and rock climbing to get to the first (of three!) peaks. The views and experience however, did not disappoint. When they reached the top of the third and final peak, Mount Lafayette, Ro gave Danielle a card he had written to reflect on their past and express excitement for their future. While she read, he got down on one knee. After seven hours, eleven miles, two Gatorades, and one (or two- depends who you ask!) mental breakdown- they were engaged!
