Enjoy some urban hiking by taking a walk along the Grand River! Sites to enjoy along the way: Canal Park, Sixth Street Park, Gerald R. Ford Museum, Ah-Nab-Awen Park, Fish Ladder Park, Sixth Street Bridge, and the Blue Bridge. Our favorite way to end this walk is with a stop Field and Fire for a iced tea and a bite to eat!
Love architecture and history? Then look no further than the Heritage Hill neighborhood! Heritage Hill is a beautiful, historic neighborhood filled with homes from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Not sure where to start your tour? We suggest parking at Lyon Street Cafe to grab an iced latte to go and a pastry from Nantucket Bakery next door to enjoy along the way. Hungry when you get back to your car after your long walk? Grab something to snack on from Martha's Vineyard (and may we suggest packing a blanket and heading to one of Grand Rapids many gorgeous parks)!
One of our favorite ways to start the weekend is with a stop at the Fulton Street Farmer's Market. Open on Friday and Saturday, it is a great place to stock up on some local, seasonal produce and check out handmade artisan goods! Pro tip! If you are willing to walk a bit find a side street to park on. Parking is free on the weekends on Fulton or any residential, side street.
Tired of the July heat? Take a stroll through the Downtown Market and enjoy a glass of wine or an ice cream! When you are done head across the street to House Rules to grab a drink and play some board games. Pro Tip! Parking at the market is expensive. Take the DASH bus which is a free downtown shuttle that will drop you off right there!
