Nick's first words to Danielle were, "It's about time!" Of course, he said this in a situation where he was forced to go to the airport to pick up some girl he didn't know, and her flight had been delayed past 12am. Little did he know he would be proposing to that girl a year and half later. This was the start of Nick and Danielle's summer working at Asbury Hills together. They were both on rec staff and quickly bonded over their shared love for the Lord, campers, and outdoor adventures.
This day was already a special day because it was Danielle's first day of work at her new job, it had been exactly one year since she graduated from nursing school and it was Nick and Danielle's 18-month anniversary. Nick thought, "Why not make a great day an AMAZING day?" He stopped by his apartment and picked up the ring after work. It was a normal night of time spent together, or so Danielle thought. Danielle had made Nick a scrapbook of all their adventures for their one year anniversary. While looking through the book, Nick had decided he wanted to recreate one of his favorite memories of dancing in the kitchen to Married Life from the movie Up. Halfway through the song Nick got down on one knee and asked Danielle to be his wife. They then celebrated by calling family and friends and enjoying time together looking at Christmas lights.
