How do I say this in the most romantic way possible? We both decided to swipe right <3 We coordinated our first date to take place at Golden Creamery, an ice cream shop in Charlotte, for what was meant to be a short and sweet introduction. After several laps around the parking lot, submersed in conversation, we both decided this date couldn't possibly end. We migrated over to Firebirds for air-conditioning and a drink which evolved into a full day affair ending with pizza and more discussion at one of our favorite spots in town, Selwyn Pub. It was a day we will never forget because without knowing it, we had found our better halves.
How do you put such a magical moment into words? It was a blue bird day in Salt Lake City, Utah and after several days of shredding the mountain, Nate decided it was a perfect day for a hike. We get dressed, him much nicer than me, so picture multiple layers as you know I hate being cold and we make our way over to Alta to embark on a lovely hike towards an undisclosed location. Nate had the "event" all planned out, however, every thought out plan doesn't come with some bumps in the road, right? As we arrive at Alta we migrate towards the top where our trail is to begin only to find about a mile and half is covered in snow with no option to drive as Google suggested. So our journey begins. Nate has us climbing all over this mountain; past dads with their daughters about to charge a trail, running thru a busy "intersection" dodging skiers making their way down the mountain and up inclines where snow is hitting our shins. During this time, Nate keeps telling me we are almost there as I huff and puff to keep up AKA man on a mission. As we approach what is to be the last leg of the trail, we are challenged yet again with undisclosed trail markings and even deeper snow leading Nate to pull the plug on finding "Secret Lake" and defeated has us turn around. While my partner is a tad frustrated, and for what seems more than is needed in this situation, I tell him how lovely the hike has been, how much I've enjoyed the time together and how this moment will live rent free in my mind for forever. We follow the exact trail we had previously forged back to the car. I would say almost three quarters of the way to "finish" we come across a snow patrol man hanging out and seize an opportunity for him to snap a couple photos as to not only have selfies from this grand adventure. He obliges, we stand cutely facing the camera and Nate whispers "I love you". I tell him "I love you too babe" and he goes to make sure Snow Patrol man has capture Instagram worthy shots. He comes back, poses next to me, and says again, "I love you". Now at this point, I'm like ok, love you too but lets get these shots and make our way home. Nate turns me to the side, plops down on one knee, starts saying "Danielle Nicole Clarke, the middle part is a blur, followed by Will You Marry Me?" Damn, if I wasn't shocked, surprised, overwhelmed and beyond elated to have the man of my dreams, the man who constantly makes me the happiest woman alive ask me to be his wife. Through tears and ugly crying my response of YES is choked out. It was the most spectacular day of my life and one he will have to try very hard to top <3
The day has come for us to say "I do" and we wouldn't have it any other way then celebrating with YOU. We may not be able to predict the weather in North Carolina during the month of November but we can predict your evening to be filled with tears, joy, laughter, love, good food, great drinks and plenty of dancing. We are so excited to share our special day with the people we cherish the most. #WalzerDownTheAisle
