The Proposal

12.18.21

It was a beautiful winter day with snow falling and deer's frolicking all throughout the town within the hills of Hunter Mountain. NOT. Instead, it was a humid rainy day as Danielle and Matt were hesitantly headed to Hunter Mountain for a day of what they call snowboarding. Danielle nagged Matthew every exit to turn around and Matthew refused! When they finally got to the hill, the two love birds shredded the gnar for a couple of runs and were enjoying their time together. Matthew took some gnarly jumps off some boulders. Suddenly, Matthew felt something...off. "Danielle, I need to fix my boot once we hit the top of the mountain". Danielle of course ignored this and strapped in anyway ready to take on another trail. Matthew then proceeds to explain that he needs to fix his boot because it was broken but had to fix it in a VERY specific area- the top of the mountain of course in a secluded area where many people "say I do with a view!" So, Danielle finally unstrapped to watch Matt fix his boot in his very specific spot. As they proceeded to this spot, they came across 15 ski patrol members standing in a circle. Matt says, "Wow, that is WEIRD." Next, Matt says, "Would you like to take selfie?" At this point, the weather had taken a turn for the worse as it was no longer misting and suddenly pouring. Danielle looked at Matt and said "What? A Selfie? Your boot is broken, my goggles are fogging and I need a wine!" Danielle looks around the premises and notices that there was sign held by this crew of ski patrol saying "Danielle, Will You Marry Me?" Danielle took a look at Matthew and noticed his hand was bleeding as he proceeded to take out his "screw driver" out of his backpack to fix his "boot". This was NO screw driver people. This was a ROCK. To this day, Danielle does not remember much after this point but does know that she was so surprised and so ready to say YES. Oh, and also "I'm gonna throw up" multiple times. Matt proceeded to put the rock on her hand and out of nowhere, a champagne guy came out of the woods! Chris! He not only was our camera guy but brought out some champs-what a guy. We celebrated and shared some happy news that in fact Matt did not have work the next day and that we were staying the night at one of our favorite hotels on the mountain. Lastly, there was a big surprise waiting at the bottom of the mountain- the entire family at our FAVORITE RESTAURANT all decorated ready to go. However, Matt had to take the ring back as he did not trust Danielle riding down with it. The big boulders that Matthew had gone off would not have done a THING to do this rock but Danielle riding down with it-BIG PROBLEMS. Anyway, the day ended with some champagne, facetimes and family. Matt did an INCREDIBLE job on planning this proposal and it could not have been more special. Danielle and Matt are so excited for all the future adventures with everyone!
