These trails begin at River Park in Buena Vista. There are several options here ranging from a short walk along the river to a longer loop with beautiful views of BV. We did a loop beginning with the Barbara Whipple trail that was about 5-6 miles in length!
If you will not be able to make it for welcome drinks before the wedding and you are a fan of spirits, make sure to check out Deer Hammer Distillery at some other time during the weekend. They have great cocktails and a great patio!
If you are more of a fan of scenic drives or old-timey towns, Leadville is a great choice for you. CO Highway 82 runs between Leadville and Aspen, going up and over Independence Pass, with unparalleled views. The town of Leadville also has a few breweries and coffee shops, and is the highest incorporated city in the U.S.!
Salida is another beautiful mountain town near the wedding with a historic downtown, a bike path, and rafting/stand up paddle boarding opportunities!
This is a beautiful lake with tons of water activities! When we were there we saw people hanging out on the shore relaxing, floating in the lake on inner tubes, fishing, and kayaking. There are no rentals at the lake, so it's a bring your own gear kind of spot, but would make a great place to relax before the wedding!
