Josh and Danielle met in 2015 when Josh, who was living in San Diego, crashed a bachelorette party that a mutual friend invited him to join that Danielle was attending. They struck up a conversation and the two realized they both attended UCSB and shared many of the same friends, but had never run into each other before. Josh asked for Danielle's number that night, to which Danielle replied, “Why?! It's not like you're going to fly up to San Francisco to take me out to dinner.” Well…That's exactly what Josh did, or tried to do… ha ha. For the next couple of months Josh continued to reach out to Danielle. Eventually Danielle became curious about the man who was kind, funny, handsome, established, and driven, and she enjoyed listening to all of the music playlists that Josh kept sharing with her via SoundCloud. One morning Danielle invited Josh to go hiking just north of San Francisco in Marin. On the hike the two had amazing, deep, genuine, and effortless conversation and laughed more than either had in a really long time. Danielle soon realized that Josh was really special, and Josh confirmed what he had known for the past three months, that he was in love with Danielle. The chemistry was undeniable. The late morning hike turned into lunch and beers at the Pelican Inn, which turned into an ocean cliff hike above the beach, which turned into sushi dinner in Sausalito. Both Danielle and Josh didn't want the exciting day to end. From that day forward it was back and forth trips between San Francisco and San Diego. Just a few weeks after making it official Danielle told Josh she would marry him someday. Two kids, two dogs, and countless moves across the country together and here we are - getting married!
This wedding wouldn't be complete without highlighting the most amazing accomplishment we share together; becoming parents to our two beautiful, adventurous, happy, curious, kind and brave daughters: Harper and Saylor.
The first proposal was spring of 2021 when Danielle asked Josh, out of nowhere, “Do you want to get married?” Josh was caught completely off guard and responded with, “Let me think about it.” A couple of months later on Mother’s Day, Josh and the kids started by bringing Danielle breakfast in bed and surprising her with a special painting they made together. This was followed by fresh squeezed orange juice for the mimosas Josh planned as well. After breakfast Danielle began working anxiously trying to get a final assignment turned in for a course she was completing. As Danielle was typing away on her computer, Josh and Harper appeared nervously. Kneeling at her feet, Josh encouraged Harper to open her tightly closed fingers to reveal a ring they made together out of a pipe cleaner. Josh planned to get Danielle a ring when she was out of town but parenting two amazing kids by himself kicked his ass and he hardly made it through the weekend, let alone to a jewelry store. As Josh hugged Harper, Danielle was trying to make sense of what was happening. As the two kneeled before her, Josh said he was proposing on their six year anniversary, except it wasn’t. He was actually off by one day. Danielle said yes, asked if she actually needed to wear the pipe cleaner ring, and they all embraced in a loving family hug.
