Our Adventure

05.13.2022

Our shared love of the outdoors, and the friends & family we enjoy the tranquility of nature w/ is how our story began. It all started on an eerie afternoon on Friday the 13th. We were headed eastbound on I-84; ready to get away from the hustle & bustle and busyness of Boise and get to the hills where we would spend the weekend. We took exit 59A onto Eisenman to fill up at the Sinclair gas station. Jeremy was a solo rider, towing his camper that safely harbored the only food he managed to gather for the weekend- a bucket of fried chicken and a case of beer. I had just finished my first spa treatment as a guinea pig for a service new to the esthetician. With no makeup on and a moderately red face covered w/ hundreds of microscopic abrasions and my own plasma, our paths crossed. We weren’t looking for love when met; we were both going through a divorce and had sworn to never marry again. Since we shared a lot of the same hobbies & interests, and enjoyed the same company, it felt as though meeting was inevitable. We sat by the campfire and exchanged stories about our kids, lives and childhood until the early morning hours. We discovered we grew up down the road from each other and spent our childhood days cooling off in the canal and playing in dirt in an area that was once out of town and in the country (known colloquially as “the sticks” or even better, “BFE”.) Our grandparents played pivotal roles in our upbringing and were more like an extra set of parents that helped raise us when our parents worked. It was nice being able to talk to someone who was going through something similar at the same time. Our conversations were unforced and felt like a breath of fresh air. We spent the weekend side-by-siding, hauling ass through big puddles of mud, eating cold fried chicken, drinking beer and bonding over good music. Hanging out felt like spending time with a friend you’d known for your whole life. Although new and exciting, the nervousness you feel in a new relationship didn’t exist; it felt more like talking to a familiar friend, a person you knew you’d want to be friends w/ forever. Blending our families was effortless and the last 3 years have been full of love, laughter, endless adventures, and growth (as individuals, a couple and a family.) Looking back to the day we met, I never envisioned us being here today, but sometimes the best things in life are the things we didn’t plan or try to control. Together with our families, we joyfully invite you to share in the celebration of our marriage and in honoring our grandparents by having the reception at Jeremy’s grandparents’ beloved cabin, Quenzer Quarters, on what would have been my grandparents’ 71st wedding anniversary. An area near and dear to both our hearts; a magical place of refuge- a place our grandparents loved spending their days. A place that holds some of our most cherished memories w/ our grandparents; time spent w/ them where they instilled and helped foster a deep appreciation and enthusiasm for the mountains and outdoors in us. We’re looking forward to an evening in the mountains doing the exact thing that brought us together w/ our closest friends & family by our side!
