Zack Bates

Groomsman

Quiet, funny, and devilishly handsome, Zack Bates, or “ZB” as he is known, is an international man of mystery. Despite growing up right down the road from one another, he and Jacob met the summer before their freshman year of high school during football work outs, where they were matched together quite often due to both of them being skinny, short blonde guys. What they lacked in athletic prowess they surely made up for in the classroom, both graduating Top 10 in their class. After high school, he headed out to Texas Tech, where he was more than willing to indoctrinate the Red Raider culture into Jacob once he made it out there for medical school a few years later. He is currently working for a golf course management company in Fort Worth. Zack has been a loyal friend, a great listener, and always down for a good time. He will undoubtedly get the opportunity to break out his shotgunning skills at the reception, so watch your Coors Light cans as he is always on the lookout for one!

Katherine Durham

Bridesmaid

Katherine and Danielle met when they were paired as roommates during their time as leaders at Frog Camp. During this time Katherine asked a lot of questions about being Catholic and it paid off when Danielle was her confirmation sponsor a few years later. Katherine guided Danielle through new relationship experiences with Jacob and advised her on living out a God filled relationship. She often joined the couple on various adventures including Thursdays at Billy Bobs, camping trips to the Guadalupe for river rafting, and helped Jacob plan Danielle’s 22nd birthday. Since graduation, Katherine has completed her Juris Doctorate and secured a job at a top tier law firm in Fort Worth. Despite two busy doctorate student schedules, she and Danielle have made sure to see each other multiple times a year and she even babysat Ranger! Ask her about that time in San Antonio… it ends at the hospital.

Sam Becker

Groomsman

The biggest character flaw in Sam Becker is his fandom for the St. Louis Cardinals. If that is the case, then Sam must be a really good guy, and he definitely is. Sam was the only person that could handle Jacob’s need for cleanliness, as he chose to live with him for 3 years during college. When Danielle surprised Jacob when she returned from her study abroad, Sam was the one who kept Jacob busy while she slipped in the house. He has known the couple from their time as friends dancing at Billy Bob’s, helped them their relationship get off the ground, and now will be part of their wedding! He leads a life of service, as he is an officer in the United States Air Force and is currently stationed in Northern California. If you get the chance to see him at the reception, shake his hand, say thanks for your service, but take a step back once the music starts – he’s going to be the first to lose his jacket.

Gracie James

Bridesmaid

When talking about beauty, brains, and brawn, the James family will tell you that Gracie is the beauty despite a heavy argument for being the brains as she just graduated from Tarleton State University with highest honors and plans on teaching English to the future of America- a subject Gracie knows all to well this bride is deficient in after reading many scholarship essays (and writing this obvious run on sentence). Gracie and Danielle quickly became friends as they navigated her years at college and my applications for medical school. Over the years, they have enjoyed walking the dogs and learning to wake board, both of which Gracie is very good at- maybe she is the brawn too? As Danielle becomes a sister, she is looking forward to the continued conversations about nutrition and homesteads with Gracie. Ask her about fishing in Colorado… Murphy will be missed.

Josh Davis

Groomsman

Josh met Jacob by sliding into his DM’s. Inquiring about joining BYX was the actual content of his message, and apparently he got some good information, as he soon rushed Jacob’s fraternity and became his “little.” The two were inseparable during Jacob’s sophomore year of college, and they did all sorts of things together – like Josh napping on the floor of the library while Jacob studied or building a massive bonfire with their fraternity. Josh is always looking to ask the important, intentional questions and dig deeper into who you are so he can really get to know you. Jacob got the privilege to be a groomsman in Josh’s wedding, so it’s only fitting if he returns the favor, right? It has been such a pleasure for Jacob to watch him grow up, and he and his wife just welcomed their first child! Don’t let that dad bod fool you though, Josh will be the guy with his tie tied around his head and will be bringing the energy all night long.

Sadie James

Bridesmaid

As a basketball state champion and superiorly athletic, Sadie is the brawn of the James family. Over the last couple years, Danielle has had the joy to watch Mama James coach Sadie and lead the team to the state title. While it is easy to focus on her athletic ability, Sadie is a witty woman with a large heart for her friends and family. While visiting the James home, Sadie and Danielle often have girl chats that make Danielle feel like she finally has a sister! Recently, many chats have been about attending Oklahoma University where she is thriving as a freshman. Watch out for her on the dance floor. Danielle and Sadie are not afraid to break it down and sweat it out as they did for five nights in a row during a family vacation to Turks and Caicos. Ask Sadie about meeting the family … there’s two good stories.

Loren Earl

Groomsman

Loren is a man of high character and is one of the most creative people Jacob and Danielle have come across. For example, while Loren and Jacob were roommates their junior year of college, and Loren helped him break into a truck. Luckily it was his own, as he had locked his keys inside of it. Using an axe and some dental floss, Loren and Luke helped pry the door open and unlock it from the inside. This kind of ingenuity helped when he played a big part of Jacob and Danielle’s relationship in its early days, as he helped Danielle surprise Jacob when she got back from Italy. He can have fun anywhere and with anything - just ask him about the frozen pizza he, Luke and Jacob turned into a frisbee one night in college. Pizza isn’t the only thing flying these days - Loren just completed his licensure to be a pilot! Hopefully there won’t be any need for improvising during the wedding, but if there is, watch out for flying pizza, courtesy of Loren.

Annu Krishnan

Bridesmaid

Annu and Danielle were “share-the-wall-mates” on Merida Ave, and what started as two pre-meds trying to make it became a laughter filled friendship. There were many nights Danielle and Annu sat in front of the giant white board Jacob hung trying to learn mammalian physiology. While they kept each other going in those hard pre-med classes, once COVID hit and online classes began, shared classes turned into nap time in Danielle’s room. Annu makes each person she speaks with feel special - she embraces those who are different than her, asks questions that make you feel seen, and makes you believe that next time she really will go to Billy Bob’s or stay the whole party (but she won’t - it’s past her bedtime). Since graduation Annu, Alex, Sarah, and Danielle have made sure to go on a yearly trip, despite all being in doctoral programs. Annu is pursuing her MD at UTMB. Ask Anuu about Aspen… or Utah or Miami.

Jack Joyce

Groomsman

Jack is probably the only person in history that hears the word “floss” and doesn’t think of the dance. Jack and Jacob met during orientation the summer before their freshman year of college, and the rest is history. They lived together their sophomore year and both took the same classes at TCU, with Jack on the pre-dental track, which has taken him to dental school in Iowa. They also had 2 terms as president and secretary of their fraternity, which gave Jack access to Jacob’s Outlook calendar, allowing him to make sure Jacob got to class and meetings on time. He basically got himself and Jacob through college. Beyond that, Jack is one of the most loyal friends someone can ask for. He was one of the first people that helped Jacob realize that he had feelings for Danielle, and cared enough to tell him that he should pursue her. It will be an honor to have him on the altar on the big day, and even more of a privilege to have him on the dance floor afterwards – if you see him nodding his head to music, drink in hand, don’t be alarmed – that’s his signature move.

Katie Lynn

Bridesmaid

Alberson Court will never be the same after two-year-olds Katie and Danielle stormed its asphalt with our rollerblades, barbie jeep, and blue and pink bikes. After 22 years of friendship, these girls have a lot of memories including running around the kitchen island to “Who Let the Dogs Out,” endless summers swimming to Jimmy Buffet, and experiencing all the ultimate Disney classics. In high school, we went to youth group and mass together every week on top of ice cream trips to the highlands and enjoying the Focaccia bread at Davanti’s. A childhood friendship is hard to break even after 8 years in different places. Katie is killing it as an ICU nurse in Denver, CO after earning a degree while playing soccer at St Thomas University. Luckily, they have been able to see each other in San Diego over holidays and visiting each other in Fort Worth and Denver. Ask her about the tree…there were two green ponies.

Noah Owens

Groomsman

Noah is Jacob’s oldest friend out of the groomsmen. The two met when they were 8 years old when Noah eliminated Jacob’s coach-pitch baseball team from the playoffs with a grand slam. Noah turned out to be a pretty awesome guy, so it wasn’t very hard for Jacob to let it go. They played many years of baseball together, but their crowning sporting event had to be the hours of whiffle ball they would play together in Noah’s cul-de-sac in the triple-digit Texas heat. The two have done many things together, including releasing an album on iTunes, and Noah gave Jacob the honor of being one of his best men in his wedding. Noah is currently finishing up his Doctor of Physical Therapy at UT Southwestern along with his wife. He is just as caring, servant-minded, and Christ-centered as the day he and Jacob met, which will serve him well as a PT. Don’t worry if you a pull a hamstring going too hard on the electric slide – Noah will have you back on the dance floor in no time!

Sarah Patton

Bridesmaid

It was a dark day in the TCU library when Sarah introduced herself to Danielle by asking for her help on Organic Chemistry 2. Despite neither of them knowing much about chemistry, they sure hit it off. During COVID, she and Danielle lived together on Merida Ave and Sarah became the ultimate third wheel to Jacob and Danielle as they were just beginning their relationship. For a year she went on almost every date with them from dinners to game nights. Danielle and Sarah consider themselves sisters after Sarah lived with Danielle’s parents in San Diego for a year. Multiple 12+ hour study sessions, Domino's gluten free pizza orders, Monday night drunken dinners, and now long-distance bestie phone calls later, these two continue to console each other through medical school and plan extravagant trips. Ask Sarah about all those times at Billy Bob’s… it ends in a wedding!

Luke Paulus

Groomsman

Have you ever seen a Hawaiian cowboy? Well, if you meet this guy, you can say you have! Luke lived with Jacob in college for one year and served as his chaplain when they were both BYX officers their sophomore year. Luke is a jack of all trades – he is someone you want to party with, someone you want to learn from, and a brother you always want to have your back. Not to mention, he has graduated from TCU twice, most recently with his degree in Ranch Management! Where better for this degree to take him other than Hawaii, where he has spent time working on a ranch. The only thing larger than Luke’s national champion belt buckle is probably his heart. He has always been a trusted friend who gives great advice that is rooted deeply in his faith. Luke was one of the biggest early supporters of Jacob and Danielle’s relationship, and taught Jacob all of the 2-step moves he knows that swept Danielle off of her feet. He’ll be the one in cowboy boots and a lei at the reception proving to us all that white people CAN dance.

Alex Pharr

Bridesmaid

Alex is the manifestation of sunshine in a person. After meeting their sophomore year, Danielle basically moved in with Alex, and they shared clothes, study sessions, and makeup. All in God’s planning, they got to live together for two years on Merida Ave. Alex was not only the perfect roommate, always keeping the apartment clean and cooking for everyone, but also the most thoughtful friend. No matter what is going on in Alex’s life, she makes sure to check in on you, have deep talks while lying on the floor, and bring fun into the day. True to character, Danielle and Alex always had a trip planned, with notable ones being to Paso Robles, Orange Beach, and Aspen. These two fed off each other’s spontaneity, often ending up at Ellerbe on random weekdays. Since graduation, Alex has graduated with Honors from law school and is working as a lawyer in Dallas. Ask Alex about BYX Formal… that’s where it all started.

Tommy Suarez

Groomsman

Tommy and Jacob’s finest legacy at Northwest High School might be that they were the founding members of NHS’s ping pong club. They were able to get out of class to play ping pong in the middle of the day, which, when matched up together, was almost always won by Tommy. He pursed an engineering degree at Texas A&M and now works in commercial roofing, so if you ever need a new set of shingles, he might know a guy. Tommy is extremely outgoing and can talk to anyone about anything for half an hour, minimum. When Tommy and Jacob get together, it is nonstop conversation that ranges from a variety of topics – sports, careers, family, and faith to name a few. Tommy has always stood by Jacob and supported him in whatever endeavor he wanted to pursue. He has a generous personality and always wants to see others succeed. At the reception, keep the tequila at arm’s length from him though – it’s been said that Joe Nichols actually wrote the song about Tommy.

Juliette Price

Bridesmaid

Juliette wondered about all the boxes at move in when she became Danielle’s suitemate at TCU freshman year. Few years are as influential as the first year away from family, and Juliette was the best bad influence. For a serious pre-med student, Juliette showed Danielle the fun of college. There were many Tiff’s Treats and IHOP orders, expensive dinners, family weekends, and fraternity parties. Juliette would give a stranger the shirt of her back if it would help. She took Danielle to the emergency room, stood up to the RA on Danielle's behalf, brought food during study sessions, and indulged in California craziness. Since graduation, Juliette has been climbing the ranks at L’Oréal, though she says, “It’s just makeup.” Ask her about our trip to Utah… it’s a family affair.

Anthony Wood

Groomsman

Jacob is extremely excited to be gaining a brother in Anthony. Ever since meeting Anthony in 2020, it has been hard to keep up with the athlete that he is. When Jacob and Danielle visit during ski season, they hardly see any of Anthony – he carves up the mountain more than the family carves the tenderloin for Christmas dinner. He is also a great cook who channels his Italian heritage and makes a mean homemade pasta. Apart from that, Anthony is an extremely thoughtful man who cares deeply about those around him. He was very quick to accept Jacob into the Wood family, and he has been a great future brother-in-law since. He is currently living and working in the Charlotte area, as he graduated early from The University of Miami at the end of 2022. Everyone beware, Anthony will be the guy that brings those Miami and Vegas vibes to the party – a spark that will definitely make the wedding an event to remember.

Josie Scherer

Bridesmaid

Despite being in the same sorority and sharing a wall sophomore year in the sorority house, Danielle and Josie became friends in Florence while studying abroad. Before COVID sent them home, Josie and Danielle enjoyed many amazing dinners, balcony wine nights, and conversations about whether Jacob liked Danielle. Senior year, Josie hosted the study abroad girls for Italian nights once a week where she would cook them the most sensational meal. Just as those meals sustained Danielle in college, Josie started an amazing business called Josie’s Kitchen (follow her on the gram @injoskitchen) that has sustained Danielle’s dinners through medical school. Josie is the friend that always keeps you laughing and on your toes so phone calls with her make the 5-hour drive to see Jacob feel like a second. Ask her about Naples… it involves a boat.
