Isaac and I met through the online dating app, Bumble. He was newish to CO and I was over internet dating. I was over dating in general! I had deleted the stupid app and swore off men. Then I got bored....and decided I'd just mess with some dudes on the internet for my amusement...Well Isaac's profile came up and we have the same favorite author. Henry Miller. On Bumble, women make the first move so I sent him a message and he was so kind, responsive, smart, funny and interesting. What the heck, right? And look where we are now! Goes to show you never can tell.
Issac and I had been living together about 6 months or so, (and dating for about 1 year) when Covid hit. We were living in a one bedroom basement apartment. I paused my business for about 6 weeks and Issac got furloughed. We barely left the apartment aside from walks and the grocery store to stock up. We both started working again from home mostly and put two office spaces in our kitchen/living room. We took up backgammon and spent more time together just the 2 of us than we would have in 3 years had Covid not happened. We talked about everything, laughed at just about everything and he knew all the right ways to support me during so much uncertainty. We survived and our love thrived. On my 40th birthday in July 2020, he proposed. We passed the covid lockdown relationship test with flying colors!
My 40th birthday was July 16, 2020. I was working overnights, Isaac was working from home and we were in full on pandemic lockdown mode. My saving grace was day sleeping, gardening and paddle boarding. And Issac, of course. I had little expectations for any big bday surprises given that we were still keeping it close to home. I will never forget waking up that afternoon, taking a shower and coming out of the bathroom, in my birthday suit to Isaac grinning ear to ear. There was a beautiful coral jade plant on the counter with something sparkling in it. Before I could say anything he started telling me the absolute sweetest things about how much he loves me and boom, he pops the question! I couldn't believe it. I asked over and over, "are you for real? Is this for real?!" and he gave me the best birthday surprise! Choosing me to be his wife. (I said YES!)
