Tropea is one of the most beautiful historic towns in the area. It's worth spending a day here. Walk around the old town, take a dip in the sea, have an aperitivo at one of the cafes or restaurants with a view (we like Bar del l'isola), and be sure to visit the church and gardens of Santa Maria dell’Isola! Our favorite restaurant for a nice lunch or dinner in Tropea is Ristorante La Conchiglia da Patea. Pinturicchio is good but a far second to La Conchiglia. There is also a good pizza at Premiata Forneria Tropea. And our favorite gelato in Tropea is Donna Maria Gelateria. Shops worth visiting: C’era una Volta for local artisan crafts, and Libreria il Pensiero Meridiano has good books on the area and is just a cute bookstore.

Cute beachfront town right next to Coccorino. Da Barbone, a fish restaurant in the main square has fresh fish and has a great view right on the beach. Piazzetta dei sapori di teresa rocco is good for a quick panino. Also there is a hidden gelato shop: Hotel Ciccio Sul Mare. Try the ricotta ice cream! Santa Maria also has a little bit of night life in the evenings with people drinking and dancing in the square.
Spilinga is the birthplace of Nduja, and also has a great gelato bar: Greenbar.
Scilla, a coastal town in Calabria, Italy, is famously identified as the home of the sea monster Scylla from Homer's Odyssey. Located on the Strait of Messina, this spot, along with the whirlpool Charybdis, menaced Odysseus during his journey. Today, it is a picturesque fishing village with a castle (Castello Ruffo) overlooking the sea.
