How We Met

Although we both went to the same high school just a year apart, we did not actually meet until February 2021, when we were the only two people at the gym. I was running on the treadmill watching college basketball, when Ethan first walked in. We sparked a conversation that eventually led to our first date one week later in a cute small town diner. Since that day our relationship has been full of so many adventures from the mundane parts of everyday life to exciting vacations together. On November 5, 2022, Ethan got down on one knee and asked me to marry him in Watkins Glen, New York on the Seneca Lake Pier. Of course I said “YES!” but I just as quickly said “Please be careful. Please don’t drop it.” (As my cousin unfortunately experienced what it was like to lose a ring to the lake...) I thought the ring would look much better on my hand than at the bottom of the lake, which it definitely does. We are beyond excited to begin our life together, and we are looking forward to getting to celebrate the beginning of our marriage with all of our closest family and friends, who have made us the people we are today.

The Proposal

Ethan planned an entire day for the two of us to go up to New York, where we started off our day at the Corning Museum of Glass. We spent hours wandering around the museum marveling over the years worth of glasswork, while also taking some time to watch glass blowers create unique pieces right before our eyes. After our time there, we made our way over to Watkins Glen State Park, where we hiked through the gorge. It was beautiful, as it was the beginning of November, so the ground was covered in bright colored leaves. However, we did not quite think through the path that we planned to take, and we ended up walking the trail in the reverse direction of pretty much every person there. We had so much fun together, but we were also completely exhausted after walking up a steep incline that definitely felt like 90 degrees up at the time. After taking a short but much needed break at a picnic table at the park, we got changed and headed down to the lake, where we walked out to the Seneca Lake Pier. We first walked out onto the rocks that led across the water from the pier to take in the beauty of the lake. But shortly after, Ethan led us back to the pier, where he got down on one knee and asked me to spend forever as his wife.
