Our wedding will take place in Melville, New York, on Long Island, about 45–60 minutes east of New York City by car/train. The area is safe, suburban, and easy to navigate, with plenty of restaurants, shops, and parks nearby.
Long Island has a convenient commuter train system called the LIRR (Long Island Rail Road). Closest LIRR Station: • Huntington Station (approx. 15 minutes from Melville by Uber/taxi) How to get to NYC: 1 Go to Huntington Station. 2 Take the LIRR train toward “Penn Station” or “Grand Central” (both are in Manhattan). 3 Travel time: ~50–60 minutes 4 Trains run frequently throughout the day. 5 You can buy tickets using the “MTA TrainTime” app or directly at the station. Helpful Tips: • “Penn Station” drops you near Times Square. • “Grand Central” drops you near 42nd Street & 5th Ave. • Trains have free Wi-Fi; stations do not always.
For anyone flying directly into the NYC area: • JFK Airport – ~45 minutes from Melville • LaGuardia Airport (LGA) – ~45 minutes • Newark Airport (EWR) – ~1 hour+ (not recommended unless needed) Uber, Lyft, and taxis are easily available at all airports.
• Times Square • Central Park • 9/11 Memorial & Museum • Brooklyn Bridge • Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island • Rockefeller Center & Top of the Rock • Fifth Avenue shopping • Museums (The Met, MoMA, Natural History)
• Most places accept card payments, including Apple Pay/Google Pay. • Uber and Lyft are the easiest transportation options besides trains. • US electrical outlets use Type A/B plugs (110V), so visitors will need adapters.
