...it starts with a pilgrimage from Ujamaa to the dry bed of Lake Lag. They’re among friends, standing in a circle, sleepily shivering. In a few weeks, Dylan and Danielle sit in a circle playing Truth or Dare in her dorm room, and Dylan, naïfly choosing truth, is asked who he’d date in Uj; he chooses Danielle. Months pass, and who knows what happened? Furtive glances lead to pregnant pauses lead to disappearing messages until finally, Danielle invites Dylan to her Debate Club’s Special D… which could mean anything. Dylan is nervous; his friends insist he go. Summer breezes past Danielle and Dylan while they explore Portland’s and Arizona’s burgeoning political and tech scenes, respectively. After they return to school, Dylan makes his first move; he invites her to see The Breeders live (who doesn’t love Kim Deal?), but she already has plans to debate that weekend in Cambridge. At least she let him down easy! As soon as she returns, Danielle asks Dylan if he wants to see Tyler, The Creator on Halloween, and in a blink they’re already at The Warfield, shoulder to shoulder. Hand in hand, as they return on the southbound Caltrain, they each wonder if this just might be the start of something. 

 The next day, November 1st, 2017, they reunite, and they embrace. This is the start of something.
