We're so excited to celebrate with you!

We met on our first day at Northern Illinois University in our college dorm. We were placed just two doors away, and would hang out often in our dorms common area. After a year of great friendship, we finally decided to take it to another level and began our adventure as a couple in August 2016. We focused on each other as we navigated through college life and adulthood and found we couldn't imagine a life with anyone else.

On May 4th, 2020, D'Shawn got down on one knee... After hiding a ring since the week before COVID-19 hit the US, D'Shawn knew he needed to change his plans and find a way to pop the question at home. So on the night of May 4th, after Danielle went to bed, D'Shawn initiated his plan. He said he was going to workout downstairs, but in reality he was out on the back patio setting up candles, flowers and chocolate in preparation to ask Danielle to be his wife. He then had the task of convincing her out of bed to come out to the backyard, and as many of you know that was not an easy task... After convincing her there was something she had to see, he lead her down the hall to the patio where she found the candles in a heart shape with a romantic set up in the backyard. He got down on one knee, and of course she (I) said YES!!!
