Our story....we swiped right and the rest was history ...JK JK...
Despite downloading & deleting dating apps a countless number of times, reading ridiculously cheesy pick up lines, a constant fear of 'is this person actually going to match their picture?' and of course, and a bit of shame, I decided to try Tinder one last time. After many swipes to the left and failed attempts at dating, I came across this handsome guy holding a Bud Light and thought 'well, he has a horrible taste in beer, but at least he has a great smile and damn, look at those tattoos!' so I decided to swipe right. And guess what?!? WE MATCHED. Meaning Drew swiped first ;)..but really.
We messaged through the app for a while and Drew finally asked me on a date. Being new to the area, he had me choose the location. We met for dinner at the Brick House in Dover (Drew paid even though I offered) and then we went for a walk downtown and got to know each other. As the night came to an end, Drew walked me to my car (and opened the door for me). We hugged goodbye and I knew at that moment I had found my person...kidding....honestly, I almost didn't go on a second date with him because he was so short (don't worry I told him), but I couldn't get him out of my head. He was such a gentleman and so sweet, not to mention incredibly good looking so I decided to see him again. We dated for a couple of months and despite constantly talking about him to my family and bragging about how amazing he was, they didn't believe he was real. They even started referring to him as George Glass (Brady Bunch reference, look it up if you're not sure). Drew had stayed at my apartment one night and my aunt decided to let herself in very early in the morning to show me her new kitten. When she opened my bedroom door, she was shocked to see a half naked man in my bed and said "oh, he is real!" After that little incident, I felt obligated to introduce him to the rest of my family. My family had referenced George Glass so much my brother even said "Nice to meet you George, I'm Michael '' as he shook Drew's hand. He must have left a good first impression because my family invited him to Thanksgiving dinner. Those who know the Archambaults know how intimidating this can be for an outsider but Drew had no trouble fitting in...I think the shots of whiskey helped. That night on our car ride back to Dover, after 4 months of dating, Drew finally asked me to be his girlfriend. Fast forward 2 years, we moved to Washington and bought our first house together. I'd love to share our romantic engagement story too but that's to be determined... Either way, I'm so glad I swiped right!!! 💏💍
