How We Met

On May 21, 2016 Dicie and I found each other on a dating website. We talked for a few days and decided to meet on May 23rd. I picked her up from work at 11pm and we went to IHOP to eat. I didn't really like IHOP but I didnt let her know that. I ordered the tutty fruity fresh and fruity pancakes and she ordered a chicken dish. Neither one of us really ate, we just sat there and attempted conversation. It was awkward! After the date was done, I took her to her apartment and was ready to leave. She insisted on me staying to watch Netflix. Because it was awkward, I was ready to go home and move on! When I got home, she messaged me thinking things went great. I didn't tell her how I felt at the time because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. Well, as we kept texting, I forgot how awkward that date was and was really interested in her. Conversation over text was so easy! So I decided maybe it was too early to write her off just yet. We met again May 25th. This time, before I even picked her up, I told her to relax and be herself. I get there and she's calm, cool and collected unlike the other day. This date was more comfortable for both of us and we decided to continue things. On June 2nd, she asked me to be her girlfriend and of course I said yes. The first year was rough. We went through financial hardships, moving, switching jobs, everything. Although it was stressful, we stuck by each other's side and pushed through.

The Engagement

March 1, 2018, we move into our our current house in Fountain Inn, we both have stable jobs, and things seem to be working out! We start talking about the future, as most couples do, and we agreed this is what we wanted for the rest of our lives. I was constantly dropping hints on an engagement ring. I told her what I liked and disliked. I kept nudging her hoping she would get the hint. Flash forward to April 20, 2019. We were spending the weekend down in Charleston, South Carolina. It was new for both of us. We went to the Joe Riley Waterfront Park and were just walking around. We went to the dock and looked out onto the water and next thing I know Dicie is down on one knee with a ring in her hand. She asked me to be her wife. My response wasn't typical. I hate being caught off guard so I said "you suck, you suck, you suck!". We both were laughing and she said "Is that a yes?". Of course I said yes! Now we are in the wedding planning process!
