How do you break the ice with the new cute nurse who just started working at the same ER with you? Easy, you ask her what her favorite Nickelback song is. A long nightshift lead to a fun breakfast where we got to know each other more and started talking a lot. One day out of the blue she asked if id like to go to Thailand with her for 2 weeks. I told her half joking, sure if I could get the days off. well turns out it wasn't too difficult because next thing I knew I was on a 26 hour flight. And you know she's something special if she can stand being stuck next to me on a tight plane for that long haha. Well Thailand was absolutely stunning but that wasn't the true beauty I found when I went there. I found a smart, gorgeous girl, who was easy going, always up for adventure, and spontaneous.. sometimes to a fault haha. I discovered someone I could see traveling the world with together. And soon Ill be able to call her my wife and I cannot tell you how excited I am to be marrying my best friend and my forever adventure partner. Though.... I still am waiting on her choice of favorite Nickelback song!
I had just started working at Regions when I had worked the same pod as this really cute guy. At the time, we weren't wearing masks, and man, I thought he had a great smile. He had been talking to a few coworkers about how he was going to focus on school and not date.. HA. A few hours into the shift, he came up to me and asked, "What's your favorite Nickelback song?" I honestly laughed and had told him I didn't know..as I had so many. Later that day (we work nights), we had gone out for breakfast with friends. We grew to be really close friends, where he became my go-to person for pretty much everything. I had never truly found someone who accepted every flaw of mine until I had met Cord. Even as "just friends," Cord was the sweetest, most thoughtful human to me. I was surprised when he had said yes to going to Thailand with me. I had the absolute best time on that trip. I tried my hardest to deny my feelings for him, but sure enough, I was falling head over heels for this goober. I finally gave into my stubbornness and asked him out. Since then, we have been through a whirlwind of adventures together. This man has put up with me through COVID (we were quarantined the majority of our relationship), hours of sniffing candles at Bath and Body Works, random trips to Sam's for ALL of the blankets, and many more. I never thought I'd ever find someone who can compete with me on who's dad jokes are better either. I think he's got me beat. I knew he was the one when we were hiking the Narrows of Zion (6 miles in) and I had a sudden flare up. I needed to go to the bathroom so bad, to which there was none in sight for miles. Cord stood guard, eating a granola bar like nothing was wrong. When I had said "yes" to Cord, I knew I was saying yes to forever with my best friend. I cannot wait for these adventures ahead with Cord. Here's to a life of fun, chaos, and forever cheesy moments with the greatest guy. Also, my favorite Nickelback song is "Savin' Me." ;)
