How We Met

Thanksgiving

Danielle and I met on Thanksgiving, 2017. My dad, sister, and I were invited to our family friend Pat Leonard's house. We spent the first half of the evening with his family and close friends eating and drinking wine. After dinner was over, I saw this gorgeous girl walk through the door with, who I presumed were her parents. I immediately made my way over to introduce myself to them. I was instantly struck by how sweet, charming, and beautiful Danielle is. My sister recognized it as well and will tell you she knew how I'd feel about her right away. I offered to pour her a glass of wine and suggested we play a game of pool. Over the course of the night, we got to know each other a bit better and I was obviously disappointed to find out that she lived in Austin. Despite the fact that I had heard her say to my sister she would never date a musician, I still wanted to be her friend. At the end of the night, I asked if I could give her my number since my phone was dead. Thanks to the 3 - 4 glasses of wine I'd had, I gave her the wrong number. When I never heard from her, I had to ask my dad to ask her dad for her number the next day... So embarrassing. -Chrystian

The Proposal

I said yes!!

Chrystian came to Austin so we could ring in the New Year together.  A friend was hosting a party at her gorgeous home up in the Austin hills that we attended that night.  I had NO idea he was planning on proposing.  He just seemed so calm and I had always heard stories of how nervous men got when it came to popping the question. When I asked him about it later, he said he wasn’t nervous because it was the most sure he’d ever been about something.  (Insert photo of me ugly crying here!) Anyway, the clock hit midnight and everyone kissed their loved ones to celebrate coming into 2019 together.  A few moments later, a friend of ours asked where to put her purse. As I walked ahead to lead the way, she slipped him the ring which she had been holding onto all night. When I walked back into the room, he was on one knee! By this time, word had gotten around and there was a party full of smiles and cameras pointed at us.  What felt like an eternity to him, was seconds of shock to me ( don't pass out, don't pass out) I took a deep breath and said.... yes! (Or gave a nod due to being at a loss for words) For the next 10 minutes, I kissed him over and over and over again. The text messages and Facetime calls of screaming friends congratulating us started flooding in and to this day, it all still feels like a dream.  The best dream by far that I've ever had. What a way to start the new year…. As the future Mrs. Kaplan! ♥ Danielle
