Danielle and Charlie grew up only an hour from one another in New England, but never crossed paths. Then, they overlapped at the Naval Academy for a year, and still, fate did not bring them together. It wasn’t until they found themselves deployed together on the same aircraft carrier, stuck at sea for over 200 consecutive days due to the worldwide pandemic, where fate could not separate them any longer. Danielle was the beautiful and talented targeting officer in the Airwing who, though just an Ensign at the time, certainly commanded the attention of many a pilot on board. One of those pilots, Charlie, was a junior FA-18 driver (affectionately known as an “FNG”) who decided to throw his hat into the ring. Over time, the two grew to know each other over hours spent inventorying squadron materials, sharing late night meals together in the wardroom, and sneaking away to the O-10 level of the tower to enjoy a pristine view of the night sky which you can only get at sea, far away from land. By the time the USS Eisenhower pulled into port, the two had formed a relationship they knew would endure far beyond their time together on the ship. The rest, as they say, is history!
