New Orleans receptions are cocktail style parties rather than seated dinners. They consist of heavy passed hors d’oeuvres and food stations, with an emphasis on lots of food options, lots of beverages, and lots of mingling and dancing. Seating is left open for guests to choose their own seats and tables.
A second line is a longstanding New Orleans tradition where a brass band leads the newlyweds and guests in a celebratory parade. For weddings, it symbolizes the start of a new life for the bride and groom. Guests dance behind the couple and band with handkerchiefs in hand. We will be second lining from the church to our reception. If you are unable to walk, please let us know on your RSVP so we can reserve a pedi-cab for you to ride along with us!
The dress code is cocktail attire. Guests are encouraged to wear cocktail dresses, dressy jumpsuits, suits, or tailored separates. While the majority of the celebration is indoors, please be mindful of the June heat when choosing your attire. Comfortable footwear is encouraged - we will celebrate with a second line parade and lots of dancing!
We kindly request that our wedding be an adults-only celebration, with the exception of children who are family members and are listed on the invitation.
To ensure we can accommodate all our beloved guests, only those named on your invitation are included. Thank you for understanding!
Doors will open at 5:30 and the ceremony will begin at 6:00. Please aim to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the ceremony start!
