At Los Osos Middle School, in Home Economics Class, Alex first laid eyes on Danielle. They were put in the same cooking group, and he passed her a note that read, “Hey o.0 what are you up to this weekend?” The flirty notes continued, and they quickly became friends. In Danielle’s 7th grade yearbook, Alex wrote, “When I saw you, it was kinda like that love at first sight thing.” Fast forward to High School, after 3+ years of friendship filled with movie nights, shakes at Fosters Freeze, park hang outs, and valentines day cards, Danielle asked Alex to Sadie Hawkins Dance. He showed up with flowers, they danced, and the night even ended with a doorstep kiss. But after years of friendship, what did this kiss mean? Would they be more than friends? Danielle vividly remembers the first moment she realized she loved Alex. Strangely enough, it was at her mom’s memorial service. Danielle needed the support of her friends more than ever, but she knew Alex was out of town in West Virginia. Suddenly, through a crowd of people, she saw him. He’d flown home early to be at the memorial service. Even with all her grief and sadness, his hug made her feel at home. On August 22nd, 2008 Alex asked Danielle to be his girlfriend. Clearly, she said yes.
