The two of us met August 20th, 2016 in Dallas, TX while Danielle was home visiting family between college semesters. Her childhood best friend, Josie, was friends with Tanner and introduced them to each other while she and Danielle were hanging out. Tanner jokes around about how he asked Josie if she had any "cute girlfriends" and she said "no. all my friends are guys"... and then a few weeks later he meets me while she and I are hanging out! I was attending the University of Texas at Austin and finding out Tanner attended Texas Tech, we thought we would just be good friends(hehe just kidding)... however, 2 months later we started dating long-distance... a year later, we got engaged, and now fast forward a year and half... We are hoping to have you celebrate with us at our wedding! Bear, our Old English Sheepdog, (yes, I begged Tanner to get me a dog) has become a very special part of our lives . We can't wait for you to meet him down the aisle! So excited to celebrate with y'all! Much love, Tanner and Danielle (aka The Danners)
It was Danielle's birthday and the Comey's had invited Tanner and her over for a "birthday dinner". On their way over, Kyle, Tanner's brother, called asking for some help with bringing fish back that he had caught down at the lake that afternoon. Bear was with us, freshly groomed, and Tanner asked if I would go with him to meet Kyle... I was in wedges and immediately said "No." when he asked me to go with him. Tanner insisted my shoes would be fine, so with a heavy sigh I got out and followed him. When we saw Kyle, he came and hugged us both.... then took Bear's leash to hold him.... and I suddenly started to realize what was about to happen. Kyle had not been fishing... Tanner's dear friend, Terrel, who will also be marrying us, was playing the guitar as I walked around the corner of trees to the edge of the lake. Pictures of Tanner and I surrounded by butterflies and mason jars with lights were hung all over a tree by the water with an engagement ring sitting about halfway up the trunk of the tree. And the rest... well we were both so nervous we barely remember honestly! But I did say yes. ;) We all then headed to Tanner and Kyle's parents house to have dinner. When I opened the front door, I was surprised by all my close friends and parents! But plot twist.... They all were there just for my birthday dinner and had no idea what had just happened. So while crying tears of joy, they were all looking at me thinking I was over joyed that they surprised me for my birthday. Luckily Carol muttered under her breath "Did you say yes?" and I was like "Of course I did!"... she then responded.... "Because no one here other than us and your parents knows you and Tanner just got engaged.." I looked at my friends and held my ring up... and my heart just about exploded. Everyone was so happy and excited for us and we all started crying even more lol! The rest of the night was so special, I can honestly say it's the best birthday I have ever had. :-)
