Pender Island is part of the Southern Gulf Islands, located between Vancouver and Vancouver Island. To reach the island, a short ferry ride from Victoria or Vancouver is necessary (see options below). We will link out ferry schedules as they become available and definitely recommend booking your ferry well in advance! Note: Ferries from Victoria to Pender Island are non-reservable, but there are plenty of sailings per day on this route so we don't foresee any issues.

Travel Note

Option 1: Victoria (Swartz Bay) to Pender Island (Otter Bay)

Catch the ferry at Swartz Bay terminal to Pender Island (Otter Bay). There are many direct sailings and they take around 40 minutes. Note: You can't make reservations for this route, but they are unlikely to fill up! To be extra safe, showing up an hour in advance will usually guarantee a spot. This is our recommended option if you have the choice as there are many more sailings (~1 per hour), a shorter travel time, and cheaper fare. We expect the exact schedule to be released some time in May 2025.

Travel Note

Option 2: Vancouver (Tsawwassen) to Pender Island (Otter Bay)

Catch the ferry at Tsawwassen terminal to Pender Island (Otter Bay). Sail time varies depending on # of stops, but will take between 1.5 and 2.5 hours. This ferry is able to be reserved ahead of time and the schedule is out on the BC Ferries website. Note: If there are no available ferries left to Pender Island, you can also purchase a "thru fare", which allows you to catch a Victoria sailing and then transfer to a ferry to Pender. We had to do this in October and had a smooth experience so let us know if you have questions!
